Since October all the shops in town Have dressed up the windows in a Christmas gown Glitter and tinsel are everywhere On gifts displayed for you to choose with care I gaze on the scene and wonder why We all have this pressure to come and buy To celebrate the birth of Jesus himself Who entered this earth devoid of wealth The frenzied buying is well underway And for some of us we struggle to pay For the gifts we feel we have to give To keep up appearances under which we all live Oh I don't want to be the one who spoils all the fun Of this special day celebrated by everyone But the commercialism has taken it's toll And the meaning of Christmas is lost on the whole Where is the love and sharing of the joy When panic sets in because you can't buy that toy That is advertised as this years thing to own But to buy it for your child you need to take out a loan And then after half an hour on Christmas day The box is abandoned for the box to play Do you all long for a time when we all just share A day together showing how much we all care Sharing a day with a lovely meal With time to reflect on the feelings that are real A family time of fun and laughter Without the financial worries after Would we all suffer if we didn't receive Those useless gifts sometimes hard to believe But I know that will never be the case We have a Secom med to what's taken its place!
