Business records

With regard to Business Records we do not hold a great deal of information, although we have several hundred photographs of works and premises of those firms that were active in the Eastern Valley of Gwent. However we do have access to these records at the County Records Office (CRO), Cwmbran. There are many important collections held at the CRO relating to the Coal, Iron and Steel industries that were prevalent from the seventeenth century to present the present day. There are also Solicitors papers, Estate Records, Tythe maps and their Apportionments, plus many other business archives.

To visit the CRO, it is not a requirement to make an appointment but the rooms can be busy at certain days of the week so contacting the CRO could make your visit a successful one. Meals can be taken in the large restaurant with a varied menu at very reasonable prices between 12mid-day to 2-30pm. A small cafeteria where you can purchase sandwiches is also available.

Opening times are:- Monday (Closed all day), Tuesday to Thursday 9-30am to 5-00pm and

Friday 9-30am to 4pm.
