Gwent's Chloe Beth Morgan is the newly-crowned Miss Wales.
The Cwmbran 22-year-old fitness instructor took the title at a sold-out Cardiff International Arena on Saturday night, and will represent Wales in Miss World in Ukraine in the autumn.
"It hasn't sunk in yet really. I'm still feeling overwhelmed," said Miss Morgan, who lives in Henllys, and was among 57 finalists.
"When the winner was announced it didn't register for a couple of seconds that it was me, but I heard my friend screaming and then I realised.
"It was an unbelievable night. Everyone helped each other out, and the atmosphere was buzzing.
"We'd been through all the rehearsals but nothing prepares you for going out in front of all those people. It was nerve-wracking, but very exciting."
Contestants took part in three catwalk rounds in front of a judging panel including Glyn Wise of Big Brother fame, X Factor finalist Andy Williams, and former Miss Wales, Imogen Thomas.
Miss Morgan, who spent two-and-a-half years working as a children's entertainer in Spain and the Canary Islands, is currently a sales assistant and plans to pursue a qualification to become a personal trainer. But those ambitions must be juggled with her duties as Miss Wales.
"I'm looking forward to Miss World, and there will be other work overseas, including Australia, so I'll be busy, but it's great," she said.
This year's Miss Wales event raised a record £75,000 for Joshua Foundation charity, which funds days out and excursions for children with terminal cancer and their families.
