A Cwmbran woman flew out to Australia to be with her injured rugby player boyfriend after he broke his leg during an international game.
Wales wing Chris Czekaj, 21, suffered the agonising injury during Saturday's game when his studs caught in turf and his leg twisted.
Worried girlfriend Kat Roberts flew out yesterday to be at his bedside in the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
Speaking from Singapore airport yesterday on her way to Australia, she said: "He's not doing the best.
"He's got the feeling back in his leg and he's in a lot more pain."
But she said he was trying to keep his chin up.
"He's in good spirits and feeling positive," said the 21-year-old.
And Miss Roberts denied reports he will be out of rugby for up to a year.
"It's far too early to say," she said. "You can't tell with an injury like that.
"He could recover quicker, it could be a year, three years, it could be the end of his career.
"We have no idea."
Czekaj, a Cardiff Blues player, supported Miss Roberts when she made it to the Miss Wales finals.
