Trefn bob dydd
Disgyblaeth Gwynllyw
Rydym yn delio â materion disgyblaeth dydd i ddydd o fewn yr ysgol, ambell waith fe fydd achosion mwy difrifol yn gofyn am ymateb mwy pendant. Yn arferol gwneir hyn drwy ddiarddeliad dros dro neu drwy gadw disgybl mewn yn ystod amser cinio
Ataliad amser cinio
Newidiwyd y Ddeddf Addysg o Fedi’r 1af 1998 ac mae gan ysgolion yr hawl i gadw disgyblion ar ôl ysgol er mwyn eu cosbi. Rhaid rhoi 24 awr o rybudd i rieni bod angen casglu eu plantyn ar ôl ysgol. Penderfynwyd y byddai hyn yn gosb i’r rhieni ac fe fyddwn yn hytrach yn cadw disgyblion mewn yn ystod yr awr ginio. Golyga hyn nad oes angen hysbysu rhieni o’r gosb.
Trefnir yr ataliad fel a ganlyn, Penaethiaid Adrannau / Ysgol neu Flwyddyn sydd yn rhoi’r gosb i’r disgybl. Dechreuir yr ataliad am 12.25 ar ddiwedd gwersi’r bore ac mae’r disgyblion yn cael eu rhyddhau i fynd am ginio am 13.05. Cynhelir cofrestru’r prynhawn am 13.20. Fel arfer mae yna gyfle i ddisgyblion weithio yn ystod y cyfnod yma ond ni chant siarad. Arolygir y gosb gan Benaethiaid / Dirprwy-Benaethiaid Blwyddyn neu aelod o’r Uwch Dîm Rheoli.
Nid yw hyn yn gosb am fethu â gwneud gwaith ysgol (bydd adrannau unigol yn trefnu hyn o fewn yr adran) ond yn hytrach ar gyfer camymddwyn megis chwarae triwant, ysmygu ar dir yr ysgol, anufudd-dod, haerllugrwydd, mynnu torri rheolau ysgol.
Mae lle i’r plant / athrawon nodi hyn yn y Dyddiadur Gwaith Cartref newydd.
Diarddeliad dros dro
Petai eich plentyn yn cael ei ddiarddel dros dro yna gwnawn bob ymdrech i gysylltu â chi dros y ffôn. Serch hynny mae disgyblion sydd yn cael eu diarddel yn derbyn llythyr i fynd adref i’w rhieni ac mae copi arall yn mynd drwy’r post. Rydym yn hysbysu Neuadd y Sir a’r Swyddog Addysg a Lles o’r diarddeliad.
Fel arfer diarddelir dros dro am gyfnod o ddeuddydd neu os yw’n drosedd mwy difrifol pum niwrnod. Mae gan rieni yr hawl i apelio yn erbyn diarddeliad. Ystyrir pob gweithred yn ofalus oherwydd mae hyn yn gosb ddifrifol ond yn y gorffennol rydym wedi diarddel disgyblion am ymosod ar aelodau eraill o’r ysgol, dod ag alcohol neu yfed alcohol ar dir yr ysgol, rhegi ar staff, ymddygiad anweddus, ymddwyn yn fygythiol, dwyn parhaus a fandaliaeth.
Y daflen
Pan fo cwynion am ddisgybl oherwydd gwaith / presenoldeb / ymddygiad, gall y Pennaeth Blwyddyn fonitro’r sefyllfa trwy osod y disgybl ar “raglen adroddiad dyddiol”. Y mae’r disgybl yn casglu’r adroddiad ar ddechrau bob dydd ac yn ei ddychwelyd i’r Pennaeth Blwyddyn cyn gadael yr ysgol. Yn achlysurol, ar gytundeb rhwng cartref - ysgol, gall disgybl fynd â’r adroddiad adref i’r rhieni lofnodi a monitro.
Discipline at Gwynllyw
Day to day discipline problems are dealt with within the school, however occasionally a more serious breach of school rules will call for a more emphatic approach. This is usually either temporary (or fixed term) exclusion (previously known as suspension) or dinner time detention.
Dinner time detention
Following amendments to the Education Act, schools have been given the right to detain pupils after school for the purpose of punishment. This came into force on September 1st, 1998. Twenty four hours warning should be given to the parents that this will happen. Here at Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw we decided that this would be punishing the parents and that we would instead operate a dinner time detention, doing away with the necessity to inform parents that it was necessary to collect their child.
The detention is run along the following lines, pupils are put into the detention by Heads of Department or by Head of Year / School. Detention start at 12.25 at the end of morning school and ends at 13.05 when pupils are freed to go to lunch. Afternoon Registration starts at 13.20. Pupils are usually allowed to do some work during this time, they are not allowed to talk and the detention is supervised by a Head / Deputy Head of Year or a member of the Senior Management Team.
Dinner time detention is not a punishment for failure to complete academic work (departments would keep pupils in as an internal department arrangement) but rather for misdemeanours such as truanting, smoking on school premises, disobedience, rudeness, persistent flouting of school rules etc.
There is room in the new Homework Diary for the child to note this.
Fixed term exclusion
Should your child be the subject of a fixed term exclusion then we will make every effort to contact you by phone on the day that the exclusion is decided upon. However, Pupils subject to such an exclusion are also given a letter to take home to their parents and a second copy is put in the post. Notification is sent to County Hall and the Educational Welfare Officer is informed.
A fixed term exclusion is usually for two days or for more serious misdemeanours 5 days. You would have a right to appeal against an exclusion. Each incident is considered carefully since this is a grave punishment but as a general guideline pupils have been excluded for assaulting other members of the school, bringing into / using alcohol on the premises, swearing at staff, inappropriate behaviour, persistent threatening behaviour, persistent theft and vandalism.
Daily report programme
When there are complaints about a pupil regarding work / absenteeism / behaviour, the Head of Year can monitor the position by putting the pupil on a Daily Report Programme. The pupil collects the report at the beginning of every day, and returns it to the Head of Year before leaving school in the afternoon. Occasionally, on a school / home contract, the pupil can take the report home for the parents to sign and to monitor.

School rules
All pupils are expected to behave appropriately in school and out of school, particularly on buses and in public places, since the good name of the school must be upheld.
Pupils must show respect for others both in and outside of school. Pupils should show respect for adults by standing if a teacher or another adult enters the room, should allow them to pass by them in the corridors, and should greet them appropriately in and outside school.
All pupils must wear the official school uniform in school, on their way to school, and on the journey home. They must also wear the uniform when representing the school. No pupil is allowed to wear earrings, rings nor any other form of jewellery, apart from a watch, to school. Studs or small sleepers may be worn, but only one in each ear. No piercing is allowed in any other body parts. Hair decorations, if worn, must be in the school colours. Make-up is forbidden. The wearing of trainers as part of the school uniform is not allowed.
Pupils must not leave the site during school hours unless parents write to request permission for a particular reason. This note of request should be shown to the Form Tutor and the Head of Year. If permission is granted for pupils to leave during the school day, they must inform the office before leaving school. Pupils who arrive late must register at reception before going to lessons.
Pupils must not leave money or valuables unattended. During sports lessons any item of value should be given to the teacher for safekeeping. Generally speaking, pupils should not bring large sums of money to school, but if this is unavoidable the money should be given to the relevant member of staff immediately upon the pupil's arrival. Should this advice not be adhered to, the school cannot be held responsible for any loss. If a pupil loses or finds something within the school boundaries a member of staff should be informed immediately. Items of lost property are usually kept in the School Office for two or three days, after which time they are transferred to the safekeeping of the office staff. Lost monies are handed in to the Head of Year / Head of School.
If a pupil is absent, parents must write a letter of explanation for this, or complete the slip provided in the pupil's homework diary. Preferably, on the first day of absence parents should telephone the office so that we may record this on our register.
In wet weather pupils should assemble in their registration rooms. If this should be a laboratory, a workshop, or one of the art or music rooms these pupils should congregate in the Hall.
All schoolbooks are the property of the school, and pupils are expected to take care of them. If pupils lose a writing book, a replacement one can be purchased from the office for 50p. Pupils will be expected to copy all work lost into their new book. A new homework diary will cost £5.00
Pupils who are injured or who become ill should seek assistance from members of staff who hold First Aid qualifications (Mrs Julie Evans, Mrs Sioned Roberts, Mr Alan Vernon-Jones) If necessary, Head of Year or Heads of School can authorize office staff to contact parents to come and collect their child.
No pupil is allowed to enter the Staff Room at any time. Pupils must respect the school premises, and all other school property. For safety reasons pupils must not bring marker pens, tippex or any other item of this nature to school.
Pupils must walk on the left when in corridors in order to ensure a free flow and to avoid accidents.

Llysoedd
Mae 4 llys yn yr ysgol:
Ebwy, Llwyd, Rhymni a Wysg
Rhennir y disgyblion i'w llysoedd ar ddechrau eu gyrfa yn yr ysgol, ac arhosant yn yr un llys tan eu bod yn gadael. Rhoïr brodyr a chwiorydd yn yr un llys. Crea hyn deimlad o berthyn, a chrea naws gystadleuol hefyd.
Ceir cystadleuthau chwaraeon rhynglysol mewn rygbi, rhwydbel, trawsgwlad a hoci.
Yn ystod cyfnod Eisteddfod yr ysgol, bydd y plant yn cynrychioli eu llysoedd yn y gwahanol eitemau.
Cofrestrir y plant yn eu llysoedd hefyd, e.e. 7 Ebwy, 7 Llwyd, 7 Rhymni, 7 Wysg.
Cynhelir gwasanaeth llys pan fo angen, yn y cyfnodau cyn Eisteddfod yr ysgol, a'r Mabolgampau, a cheir 1 wers yr wythnos gyda'r Athro Dosbarth, pan gyflwynir gwersi A.B.Ch.
Houses
There are 4 houses in school:
Ebwy, Llwyd, Rhymni and Wysg
Pupils are divided into houses at the beginning of their career in school, and they remain in the same house until they leave. Brothers and sisters are always put in the same house. This helps to create a feeling of belonging, and it also promotes an attitude of competitiveness.
Inter house competitions are held in rugby, netball, cross country and hockey.
During the school Eisteddfod, pupils will represent their houses in the different items.
Pupils are registered (morning and afternoon) in their house e.g. 7 Ebwy, 7 Llwyd, 7 Rhymni, 7 Wysg.
A house assembly is held when necessary, before the School Eisteddfod and School Sports, and one lesson per week of P.S.E. is taught in the registration group.
