New Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw pupils are invited to spend a few days in the school before the start of term.
It is now tradition that new pupils are invited to spend a few days in school at the end of the summer holiday, before the beginning of term.
The course is vital and is one of the highlights of the year. It is a golden opportunity for the children to make new friends, to get to know the staff and to familiarise themselves with the school site.
During the stay the children are given the opportunity to build their confidence in using the Welsh language in a relaxed and enjoyable way through the participation in fun games and activities.
The teaching staff strongly believe in the ethos of the course and are willing to give up their own time to ensure its success.
Some of the existing pupils and sixth formers are present at the course in order to help out with the many organised activities and to get to know the younger pupils.
The course includes introductions to the staff and subjects taught at the school, trips out, fun and games organised by the staff sixth formers and current pupils at the school and a disco.
The course started at 10AM on Wednesday 29th August 2007 and runs through to 6PM on Friday 31st August 2007. Children sleep in the school library!
Video footage of the start of the event including interviews with some of the new pupils and Sixth formers can be found on our movies page. Visit the movies page for more information|.
