jobs ac uk
Welcome to jobs.ac.uk – the specialist jobsite for careers in academic, research, science and related professions. Since we launched in 1998, we have grown to become the top recruitment site in our sector, attracting the most qualified and talented people from the UK, Europe and across the world.
jobs.ac.uk was created by The Universities Advertising Group (UAG) - a collection of "UK universities working together to procure cost-effective recruitment and course advertising".
The website was officially launched in January 1998 and is operated from and by the University of Warwick. The aim of the service is to provide a cost effective alternative to traditional print media.
As the website’s popularity has grown so has its day-to-day operation. In 2001, we moved to modern office-space on the University's Science Park in Coventry. jobs.ac.uk now employs twenty-five people - mainly based in the UK Midlands but we also have out-sourced inputters in London, Scotland, Germany and Israel.
With increasing visitor numbers the website outgrew Warwick’s in-house resources and is now managed by Eduserv (formerly NISS).
From day one, the service has been enthusiastically received by jobseekers and customers. We now advertise a huge range of vacancies from Professorships to Secretaries and for a huge range of clients in the education, public and commercial sectors in both the UK and abroad.
You would expect us to tell you how good we are. And you would expect us to tell you that we’re much more effective in our Sector than print media in sourcing quality candidates for job vacancies. Indeed, we say all of that on our Market Research page.
But we wouldn’t expect you to just take our word for it. For an independent view, visit ABCe to see our audited visitor numbers, and NORAS to compare jobs.ac.uk's popularity to other major and niche jobs boards.
jobs.ac.uk works with a number of partners. It plays a vital role in UK's Higher Education wider web services including HERO and Prospects. With the British Council we also support the European Union's research jobs portal ERA MORE.
