Childrens University

Youth University

The Torfaen Youth University, which is an arm of the Children's University in Wales, awards credits to students aged 14 to 19 for the activities outside normal school/college/work hours in which they take part.

 

Working in partnership with the University of Wales Newport, Torfaen Youth University works closely with schools, colleges and youth groups and aims to provide a broad framework within which each student can reach their maximum potential in whatever area of learning they desire.

Youth University Awards

Awards are based on the amount of time young people spend within 'YU' activities. The credits collected are added together and go towards the following awards:

Collecting Youth University Awards

  • Registers taken to record activity module attendance
  • Credits will be banked at end of each module
  • 'Bank' statement issued to students each year to update credits total
  • If student changes Activity Centre credits are transferable
  • An awards ceremony will be held to present certificated awards

All Youth University awards must involve credits collected for activities with a 10% community contribution.

The Children's University in Wales awards credits to young people from 5 to 19 who attend activities outside normal school hours.
