Twin Bin gets green waste sorted

MORE than 46 tonnes of garden and kitchen waste were collected from households during the first week that the Twin Bin scheme was rolled out to another 8,500 homes. The amount of recycling collected in the black box has almost doubled since the Twin Bin scheme started. This is a great green result for Torfaen Council who would like to thank residents.

Nine thousand households now use the service with another 7,000 starting in September. By early next year half of Torfaen will be receiving the scheme, with every household taking part by 2009.

The Council would like to remind residents not to compact their garden and kitchen waste into their green bin. In exceptional circumstances the Council may be able to offer another green bin to certain households following a home visit and waste audit from the Waste Awareness Officer. If you have any queries phone Call Torfaen on 01495 762200.
