Blaenavon World Heritage Day
THOUSANDS of people lined the streets of Blaenavon for World Heritage Day. The event included a spectacular line up of family entertainment including a traditional Victorian Funfair, musical entertainment from Owen Money and the Soul Sharks, street entertainment and much, much more.
The highlight of the day was the heritage costume parade which was led by children from Hillside and St Peter’s school. The costumes featured miners’ canaries, furnaces and machinery all representing aspects of Blaenavon’s industrial history.
Councillor Neil Lewis, Chairman of Blaenavon World Heritage Committee, said: "I would like to say a big thank you to all those who contributed to making the day a huge success." Next years event takes place on Saturday 30 June.
