Cwmbran Homezone wins major award
AN innovative Cwmbran housing regeneration project has won a prestigious award from the British Association of Landscape Industries.
Created in The Circle, Cwmbran, Homezone is a designated area where pedestrian and vehicle space is shared.
Councillor Gwyneira Clark, Executive Member for Housing and Community Safety, said: “People want to live in homes that are warm and well-maintained in areas that are clean, safe and green. This award proves that this can be achieved through thoughtful and sympathetic regeneration, robust partnership, sensible investment and a clear eye for environmental needs.”
The landscaping works have been complemented by regeneration works to the properties. All works at The Circle go some way toward achieving the Welsh Housing Quality Standard. Improvements include new rainwater goods and fascias, replacement of cavity insulation, window and door replacement, pathways, garden walls topped with railings and new gates, soft landscaping and lighting plus wheelie bin stores. The Homezone incorporates trees and seating, new front gardens and some secure on-plot parking, with the remainder of residents having dedicated parking in the street.

MAE prosiect arloesol sy’n ymwneud ag adfywio tai yng Nghwmbrân wedi ennill gwobr glodfawr gan Gymdeithas Brydeinig Diwydiannau Tirlunio.
Wedi ei greu yn ‘Y Cylch’, Cwmbrân, mae ‘Homezone’ yn faes dynodedig lle rhennir lle i gerddwyr a cherbydau ar y cyd.
Meddai’r Cyng. Gwyneira Clark, Aelod Gweithredol dros Tai a Diogelwch Cymunedol: “Mae pobl am fyw mewn cartrefi cynnes sydd wedi eu cynnal a’u cadw’n dda, mewn mannau glân, diogel a gwyrdd. Mae’r wobr yn profi bod modd cyflawni hyn drwy adfywiad ystyriol a sympathetig, partneriaeth gadarn, buddsoddiad synhwyrol a golwg pendant ar anghenion amgylcheddol.”
Mae’r gwaith adfywio yn ategu at y tirlunio a wnaed i bob eiddo, gyda’r holl waith a wnaed ar gyfer ‘Y Cylch’ yn cyfrannu tuag at gyflawni Safon Ansawdd Tai Cymru. Ymysg y gwelliannau mae nwyddau dw^r glaw ac estyll tywydd, inswleiddio ceudodau, drysau a ffenestri newydd, llwybrau, waliau gardd, rheiliau a gatiau newydd, ychydig o dirlunio a goleuadau a storfa ar gyfer biniau sbwriel symudol. Mae ‘Homezone’ yn cynnwys coed a seddau, gerddi blaen newydd a pheth parcio diogel ar y safle, gyda mannau parcio pwrpasol ar y stryd wedi eu sefydlu i weddill y trigolion.
