Snow in Torfaen

Torfaen Council spread 900 tonnes of grit on roads during the snowy days in February

Torfaen Council staff worked hard during the recent heavy snowfall to make sure that emergency calls were still answered. Workers used gritters and ploughs to try and clear the main roads for traffic. Switchboard staff were busy making sure that priority calls were followed up and dealt with as soon as possible.

Councillor Marlene Thomas, Executive Member for Resources, said: "We plan for events like this where staff can’t get into work to make sure that frontline emergency services can still be delivered. Our staff put in a fantastic effort to keep as many Council services running through this difficult time."
