Canal Improvements

A group of volunteers spend a day each month improving the look of the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal in Torfaen. Torfaen Council’s Countryside Warden Hugh Woodford has set up the group and is looking for new volunteers. They pick litter, remove rubbish, prune overhanging branches, weed, and paint railings. You can read about the group’s progress and view pictures of their work on the website of one of the volunteers at www.cwmbran.info

A second group, from Gwent Probation Service, also help with litter picking, towpath maintenance and graffiti removal. Call Hugh on 01633 648309 if you want to volunteer.
