New centre for children and families
A £1 million ‘log cabin style’ building has been built in the grounds of Hollybush primary school in Cwmbran. The building is Torfaen’s Integrated Children’s Centre and will improve services to children and families in the area.
A range of services are available to families including nursery provision, wrap-around care, playgroup, afterschool club, holiday club, Sure Start, Genesis Wales, Children’s Information Service, breastfeeding support group, parent training, health visitor drop-in, and ante-natal support.
Councillor John Turner, Executive Member for Education, said: “This will be a huge benefit to future generations of children and young people. Staff from a variety of services will work together to make sure that children and families can get any extra help and support that they need.”
The project was funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and Big Lottery Fund.
