How to find a registered childminder
REGISTERED childminders work in their own homes to provide care and learning opportunities for other people’s children in a family setting. They are inspected by the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales (CSIW). It is a requirement of their registration that they undertake training including first aid, have a criminal records bureau check and have insurance.
The National Childminding Association (NCMA) provides parents with a free guide, “Choosing a Homebased Childcarer”. You can get a copy at www.ncma.org.uk or by calling Jo Forward, NCMA development worker for Torfaen, on 01663 647410.
