Footpaths update
RESIDENTS who have received a letter with information about extinguishment of a footpath near their home can be reassured that they will not lose their existing access.
‘Extinguished’ is a legal term which means a footpath will be removed from the Public Rights of Way map.
The 30 footpaths being extinguished were once rural ones which have been built over during the fast growth of Cwmbran and some parts of
Pontypool over the last 40 years.
Though these registered public footpaths are to be removed from the map, alternative routes in the form of adopted footpaths and pavements that have been in use since the estates were built will remain unaffected.
Residents can write to the Council’s Countryside Section with their views.
