Cosy Kitchen

Cosy Kitchen takes place in Cwmbran’s Thornhill community centre on Tuesdays between 12.30pm and 2pm.

Funding was first secured from Building Communities First for six taster sessions providing a free bowl of soup, a bread roll, and hot and cold drinks.

The aim of Cosy Kitchen is to promote healthy eating using simple recipes and fresh produce. Volunteers will be taught how to make soup from fresh vegetables.

In future there will be a small charge to cover the cost of making the soup but when £10 worth of vegetables produces enough soup to cater for thirty people, the charge to those who come along is likely to be very small!

It is also hoped that Thornhill will be able to create its own food co-operative with volunteers ordering and bagging the produce locally. For just £2, large bags of fruit and vegetables will be available to residents which they will be able to collect from the community centre.
