Carers needed urgently

Could you make a huge difference to the family of a child with a disability? Carers are urgently needed to give short-breaks for families whose child has extra needs.

But the benefits aren’t just for the family. The child also benefits from the experience of spending occasional time with a carer, particularly when regular links are established.

Councillor Rose Seabourne, Executive Member for Health, Social Care and Well-being, said: “Those of us who work with families and children with a disability know of the great benefits short breaks bring to both children and families.

“Short-break carers can make a big difference in the lives of children with disabilities. You don’t need to be special, you just have to be prepared to do a special job. You can give a little time and make a big difference.”

Torfaen Social Services provides training, support and financial allowances.

Please call Helen on 01633 648535 or Jeff on 01633 648426 to find out how you can become a short-break carer.
