Housing Repairs
Torfaen County Borough Council accepts responsibility for repairing and maintaining the structure and outside of council houses, including, but not limited to:

The roof, walls and floors

Windows and doors (if fitted by the Council)

Gutters, down pipes, waste pipes and drains

Chimneys and flues
-
Gas pipes and electrical wiring

Sinks, basins, baths and WC pans
-
External painting
-
Paths, steps and certain fencing
-
Garages
There are three components to the repairs service:

Responsive Repairs – the repair of problems that you would find on a day to day basis

Cyclical Maintenance Programme – e.g. boiler servicing, external painting, etc

Major Improvement Programme – e.g. window/ roof/ render replacement, etc
The Responsive Repairs service is available 24hrs a day to respond to genuine emergencies and normal working hours for other less urgent requests. Response timescales are dependent upon the nature of the repair and range from two hours for emergencies up to three months for repairs with no or very minor knock-on implications.
