National Performance Indicators
The National Performance Indicators are a set of performance measures that allow each Council in Wales to compare its performance against that of all of the other Councils in Wales. The performance measures are used both to review our progess against targets at the end of the year but also during the year to ensure that if something isn't going according to plan action is taken as quickly as possible to improve performance.
In 2005/06 the performance indicators that each Council are required to collect were fundamentally changed. This happened following an extensive review of performance measurement throughout Welsh Local Government. This new suite of performance measures will continue to develop in the years to come.
Our most important and statutory performance indicators are included within our Corporate Plan, comparing our current performance against previous performance and our targets. However we do collect a wide range of additional performance measures which we can use to measure and compare our performance against others. These are known as our Core Subject Indicators.
