An Improving Torfaen

An Improving Torfaen

The aim of Torfaen County Borough Council is to make Torfaen  a safe, prosperous, sustainable place where everyone has the opportunity to be the best they can be.

Reaching our goal depends on us carefully planning our services, monitoring their delivery and adapting the delivery accordingly to best meet the customer needs.

Torfaen recently published its first ever Corporate Plan which sets out the Council's priorities for service improvement until 2011.  These priorities are:

  • To improve the quality, variety and affordability of housing, and reduce the level of Corporate Plan Logohomelessness
  • To reduce crime and antisocial behaviour, and take action to help people feel safe in their neighbourhoods
  • To improve the quality of teaching and learning for young people and other students and to equip citizens of all ages with the necessary skills for employment and the regeneration of their local communities
  • To improve waste management and increase recycling, creating a cleaner, more energy efficient area
  • To improve services for vulnerable people and improve health outcomes for everyone by promoting healthier lifestyles

The website's aim is to keep the reader informed about progress towards our goal of excellent services across the board, how unsatisfactory performance is being addressed and to invite feedback and discussion on all performance issues.
