Communities First
Communities First is the Welsh Assembly Government's flagship initiave, aimed at improving the lives of people living in Wales' most disadvantaged areas.
There are two community first areas in Torfaen.
They are the areas of St Cadocs, Trevethin and Penygarn in the north of the Borough and Thornhill in the South. Torfaen Voluntary Alliance is facilitating the programme on behalf of its partners, the communities in both areas, voluntary sector agencies, Torfaen County Borough Council, Torfaen Local Health Board and Heddlu Gwent Police.
The programme is community led, community driven with emphasis being given to learning by doing.
