Millennium Volunteers
Millennium Volunteers is a U.K. wide initiative designed to promote and recognise
volunteering among young people aged 16-24.
Aim
The Millennium Volunteers Programme aims to:

Offer challenging and interesting volunteering opportunities for all young people.

Enable young people to acquire new skills and knowledge and develop personally.

Increase recognition of volunteering by young people in the community.
-
Set a standard for volunteering opportunities in Wales.

Make a positive impact within local communities

Encourage ownership of the programme by young people
What does it Involve?
-
You make a commitment to volunteer for 200 hours.
-
You can choose to work in a voluntary organisation or group or get together with friends and run your own project.

You can do anything which will help you, your group and the community e.g.
-
Work on an environmental project,
-
Arts project,
-
Coach a sport,
-
Put on a play for the community,
-
Help combat drug and alchohol abuse
-
Campaign for a good cause
-
Set up a new youth activity in your community
IT'S YOUR CHOICE
It will not cost you anything. All volunteer expenses will be paid.
What's in it for you?
For 100 hours of volunteering you will receive a certificate of recognition. For 200 hours you will receive an Award of Excellence from the First Minister of The National Assembly for Wales in recognition of your hard work and commitment.
Its a fun way to meet new people, develop your personal skills and acquire valuable work experience.
Your achievements will be recognised by employers, colleges and the local community. So it might help you get into college or find a job.
