Volunteer - Change lives

What is volunteering all about

Q

What would I actually do as a Volunteer?

A

CSV volunteers support a wide variety of people, including children with disabilities, adults with mental health problems, young offenders and homeless people. Take a look through this brochure to see the range of tasks that volunteers carry out.

Q

How long can I volunteer for?

A

The choice is yours. You can volunteer for any time between four months and a year.

Q

What Qualifications do I Need?

A

None. At CSV we believe that everybody has something to offer as a volunteer. Whatever your skills or experience, if you make the commitment we will offer you an exciting volunteering activity in Britain.

Q

Can I Choose Where to go?

A

We cannot promise to match you up with a particular activity. We'll send you where help is most needed. However, we want you to enjoy your time as a volunteer, so we do our best to take your interests into account.

Q

Do I have to Pay?

A

No. In fact, your accommodation, food and travel costs are all paid for while you are a volunteer .... and you get a weekly allowance .

Q

What Kind of Support Will I Get?

A

You'll have plenty of back-up. There will be a local supervisor, who'll be on hand for practical help, advice and training. You will also have a named volunteer director at CSV to call if something comes up that you can't discuss with your supervisor. Of course, we'll help you to meet any other CSV volunteers living nearby .

Q

What Will I Get Out of Volunteering?

A

Our volunteers tell us how much they gain, such as valuable work experience, the chance to develop skills, to live independently, to build up their confidence, to explore a different way of living - and have a lot of fun.
