Community Safety
Welcome to the Community Safety Partnership. It highlights some of the possibilities available to the different sectors working within the Community Safety Partnership.
What Is The Community Safety Partnership?
The Community Safety Partnership is a new council led initiative which brings like minded organizations together to work collectively at reducing crime within Torfaen.
The Torfaen Community Safety Partnership brings together representatives of public organisations, voluntary groups, businesses and local residents. It was set up in 2003 and will currently run through till 2008.
Community Safety Partnerships are a direct response of the Crime and Disorder Act which requires that 'responsible authorities' (ie, the Unitary Local Authority – Torfaen County Borough Council, and the corresponding area Police Force – Torfaen Police), to co-operate and collaborate with a range of organisations to develop a local strategy to tackle the problems of crime and disorder.

The partnership will focus on a small number of key issues which are timely and relevant to the particular problems currently facing the residents of Torfaen.
The Community Safety domain within the portal will focus on feeling safe within the borough and guidance and advice about what to do if you are not. You can find out how the partnership is currently assessing crime and disorder within the Borough, the information discovered and what the partnership is going to do about it. The private pages of the domain will offer residents the chance to have your say on issues which are important to them and which they feel need prioritizing.
The Community Safety Partnership is committed to making Torfaen a safe place in which to live, work and visit. We will do everything within our power to reduce crime, the fear of crime, and to communicate our work to the residents within the borough.
We hope that you find the Community Safety Partnership of use to living within Torfaen and the presence on the online community portal informative and helpful. If you have any views on the strategy or the domain please email us at: communitysafety@webster.uk.net|
