Give Me Five

Make a Difference – with a £5,000 Community Award

Give Me Five LogoA Treasure chest worth £5,000 is up for grabs for a community group or local charity in Newport and Gwent this summer – with your South Wales Argus.

Principality Building Society has teamed up with the South Wales Argus to give away £5,000 to a group or charity in the region to help make a difference to the community it serves.

The Argus-Principality Give Me Five campaign aims to give community groups and charities the chance to kick-start, complete or continue the good work of a worthwhile project close to the needs of its community.

Launched by Principality chief executive Peter Griffiths, the £5,000 awards will be given to community groups or local charities operating at a community level.

Mr Griffiths said: “The Argus-Principality Give Me Five £5,000 award will be given to a clearly-defined project which is making – or will make – a difference to the people within its community.

Member of Principality Give Me Five Campaign Wearing Large Red Foam HandFrom today, Argus readers are being asked to nominate the community projects and local charities they think are worthy of receiving the £5,000 Give Me Five award.

Don’t forget, the group, project or local charity that you think deserves the money needs to show it is making a real difference to its community – and the £5,000 would help to make a real difference to your nominated project.

Nominations for the £5,000 treasure chest can be made for projects and local charities covering activities for people of all ages in the community you live and work in.

It may be a youth group set up to help keep local children off the streets at night and in urgent need of new equipment; a voluntary scheme that offers a helping hand to older people; or a project involving teenagers painting, decorating and renovating a local community facility.

If you are involved in a project – or you benefit from or just know of one – that could do with a £5,000 injection of support to make a big difference to your community, then here’s your chance to apply for the Argus-Principality Give Me Five award.

Nominations can be made by calling Give Me Five awards co-ordinator Pat Ashman on Cardiff 029 2077 3318; or pick up an application form at any Principality Building Society branch.
