Worried About Crime?

Still Anxious?

We can't take away all the worry, but there are plenty of groups who focus on helping address crime fears.

If the very thought of crime makes you feel afraid and anxious, there's plenty you can do to try and reduce those concerns.

Get involved in your neighbourhood

The best cure for feeling isolated and anxious is to participate more in your local community and build more connections with your neighbours.

Neighbourhood Watch

One of the most effective ways to get to know your neighbours is to form or join a local Neighbourhood Watch (new window)|. Getting your neighbours involved in protecting your area, and looking out for one another, can also have the effect of making everyone feel safer.

More options

Contact the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (new window)| to see what initiatives are taking place in your area to rebuild and regenerate the local community, and what you can do to get involved.

If you live in an isolated, rural area, check out our Rural Crime Toolkit (new window)|. Designed for crime reduction practitioners, it has lots of ideas and advice tailored to bring rural residents together to tackle crime.

Contact your local authority or Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) (new window)| to see what local events they are organising to help bring the community together.
