Neighbourhood Disputes
Are you concerned about disruptive neighbours?
Torfaen CBC - Noise Problems
It is a fact of life that we all make noise. The Council are able to investigate complaints of noise nuisance and advise on methods of reducing noise at source and take legal action to secure noise abatement.
The Council deal with complaints about noise nuisance from members of the public in respect of neighbourhood noise, noise from pubs and clubs, noise from industry, loud music, barking dogs and misfiring burglar and car alarms.
For contact information and further details visit the Torfaen CBC Website.|
Citizens Advice Bureau
The Citizens advice bureau say that It is not possible to provide a standard set of guidelines for dealing with every neighbour problem. This is because the problems are so varied and the solution to any particular dispute will depend on the individual circumstances of the case.
The Housing area of the Citizens advice website provides information on what common disputes tend to be and how to deal with them.

Direct Gov
Here is some advice from the 'Home and Community' section on the Direct Gov website.
If you are in dispute with your neighbours, perhaps over noise or a tall tree, you may need to get your local council involved to help resolve the problem with practical or legal solutions.
Noisy neighbours
It's best to try and resolve the problem early on by talking to whoever is responsible for the noise. It's also important to establish the facts - make a record of where the noise is coming from, at what time, and the reasons for it. Some local councils will give you a noise record sheet to note the problems.
Contact your local council (usually the environmental health department deals with noise issues). They will give you practical advice and might suggest using Mediation UK to help resolve the dispute.
