PONTYPOOL YOUTH COUNCIL
Pontypool Youth Council has been supported by the Community Council for nearly 8 years. Anyone aged 14 - 21with a real interest in the community and with a passion to have a view about life in Pontypool is welcome to join. The Youth Council is currently seeking new recruits as many of its stalwarts will be leaving for university next year. One of the highlights of being a Youth Councillor is the opportunity to travel to one of Pontypool's twinned towns and this year 10 of our Youth Councillors spent a week in Lamoura in France taking part in a Youth Festival organised by Longjumeau with young people from all of Pontypool's twinned towns. The Youth Council are working hard on their current project 'The Den', based at the T.R.A.C offices in Pontypool. This is a cyber cafe in Commerical Street and is open to anyone aged 14 - 19 on Tuesday and Thursday 3:30 - 5:30 pm. There are a host of activities, a T.V, computer suite and light refreshments available. An ideal place to hang out and chill out in that in-between stage of school and home.
