T A S K F O R C E

 

 

Pontypool Community Council employs a small task force, which carries out limited gardening and internal decorating work for residents of the Pontypool Community Council area (this stretches as far as Garndiffaith in the northern end of the town and proceeds down as far as New Inn and Sebastopol in the South). The work is generally undertaken on a seasonal basis, gardening work from May to October and decorating work from October to May (depending on weather conditions).

 

GARDENING - TYPES OF WORK UNDERTAKEN

 

Mowing, strimming lopping and pruning of shrubs, bushes, small trees (no higher than arms length), hedges and general garden tidying. A charge will be made for removal of garden rubbish resulting from these activities to help cover the Council’s costs. Unfortunately as demand for the task force is very high, they can only visit a garden once during each gardening season. However, you are able to apply for gardening work every year.

 

DECORATING

 

Please note only internal decorating work is carried out. Only one room will be decorated in order to give others the opportunity to have work done. Please note, if work is carried out in your home in one decorating season, you are unable to apply the following year. Decorating work can be applied for every other year. This ensures that everyone gets a chance to use this highly popular service. All materials (paint, wallpaper etc) must be provided by you the customer whether or not the labour is being provided free of charge or at a discounted rate.

 

 

Are you aged 80 or over?

Residents who are 80 and over have the labour provided free of charge.

 

Are you disabled or infirm?

You will be charged at a rate of 50% of the usual hourly rate.

 

Before any work is undertaken, the task force men will offer you an estimate which is without obligation before any work is carried out.
