Pontypool Community Council is working for you in the community providing a variety of services, including:-
The Council supports financially many of the local organisations in Pontypool and also National Charities. In particular it supports the Torfaen Museum Trust, Pontypool Twinning Association, Pontypool Wings To Fly, Drug and Alcohol abuse and the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Pontypool Community Council provides over £30,000 of grants to local organisations each year and supports Crime & Disorder Initiatives, Youth Projects and offer environmental grants to schools.
The Council works in partnership with many other bodies on a variety of activities and is heavily involved in the Pontypool Town Centre Regeneration. Additionally the Council also lobbies statutory bodies on many community based issues, including health matters, highway problems, policing and environmental concerns.
We also provide a gardening and decorating serive and provide all the towns Christmas lights, as well as several events throughout the town including the Christmas cavalcade, inter-schools Eistedfodd, Charity Concert, Schools Environmental Science quiz, Schools in Bloom and the Poet of Pontypool.
Pontypool Community Council is also proud of its international twinning links with the towns of Longjumeau| in France, Bretten| in Germany and Condeixa| in Portugal. Uniquely all these towns are twinned with each other.
