Pontypool Community Council

Christmas Cavalcades

Every year Pontypool Community Council organises and sponsors the Pontypool Christmas Cavalcade in the town, usually held at the end of November or the beginning of December. Members of the public visit Pontypool town flock to see the colourful spectacle which includes Santa in his horse drawn carriage, marching bands, street entertainers, dancers, jazz bands and walkers dressed as various seasonal characters.  The winner of the colouring competition is given the honour of riding alongside santa in the parade.

Each year has its own theme and the general public are encouraged to participate in the form of walking entries. Celebrities are invited to turn on the Christmas lights and in the past have included TV weather presenter Derek Brockway and Roy Noble.
