Criteria for Organisations or Groups Applying for Financial Assistance
Please read the list of eligibility criteria before completing the grant application form which is below:
1. The organisation must be voluntary and not professional, business or commercial.
2. The organisation must usually be based and operate substantially in the Pontypool area and the majoriy of the members or persons for whom the organisation caters should reside in Pontypool. If the organisation is based outside the Community Council area, evidence must be given of the number of people from the Pontypool area who benefit from the organisation.
3. The organisation should not operate any bar or restriction in respect of race, colour, creed or religion.
4. The organisation should be controlled and organised in an organised democratic manner.
5. The organisation must provide evidence that attempts are being made to raise funds in other ways.
6. The organisation should specify in detail the purpose for which assistance is needed.
7. The organisation should produce a clear set of accounts which should show that it is in genuine need of financial assistance. These must be signed by the Treasurer and countersigned by an independent person. The application will not be considered without this information.
8. Any organisation receiving a grant from the Council will not be eligible to re-apply until 12 months from the end of the month in which the grant was made.
9. Applicants should note that grants will be considered three times a year; March, July and November. Grant applications should be submitted a month before one of these dates.
