Kismet

Kismet is from the Risca area. She came into care when she was 7 months old from a man who swore they were friendly. Of course it turns out she had not been handled very much but he threatened to have her put to sleep if she was neutered and returned, as would be our usual policy. She has been living with their fosterer in her bedroom and is slowly getting there. She has been in care since March and so is now 1 year old. Kismet is a tabby. Her fosterer has a video of her to show potential owners what she is like once she knows you. Kismet will need time and patience with the right owners.

Sparkle

Sparkle is a ginger & white female cat aged about 3 years. She is a bit of a free spirit & needs a home where she can do as she pleases. Sparkle is desperate for a home of her own as she hates being confined to a pen. She has only recently come back into CP care after her owner has moved to sheltered type accommodation. Sparkle can be very loving & affectionate. She is very fat & will need to go on a diet !

Scampi & Chips

Scampi & Chips are about 8 months old. Scampi is a long haired ginger & white male & Chips is a long haired tortie & white female. They are both really attractive looking cats. Scampi is very affectionate & loving whereas Chips is much more independent & nervous of people. They need a quietish home with no young children where they will be given time to settle. They both like other cats & are fine with dogs too. Tested negative for FIV & FELV.

One Dollar, One Shelter, One Month needs online volunteers
Want to help animals but time is a real factor? Here is something you can do which will create real, tangible results with just minutes of your time each week! Help raise thousands of dollars each month for a different animal shelter or rescue group by volunteering just a little of your online time to promote the campaign. The campaign is looking for volunteers who can help to spread the word by emailing, and posting on blogs, forums and websites. If you have artisitic abilities, help by creating banners, buttons, and comment codes people can place on their social network profiles. And, if you are a good writer help by creating email letters and articles about the campaign and its efforts for the volunteers to email and post online. The goal of the One Dollar, One Shelter, One Month campaign is to reach one hundred thousand people each who can give one dollar to the featured shelter or rescue organization which will create $100,000 in funds for that deserving animal welfare organization in one month.....

Nine Year Old Girl Creates Ground Breaking Campaign for Animal Shelters
From the mind of a brilliant 9 year old girl comes a campaign so simple that it is certain to work wonders for our country's poorest animal shelters. Meet Danielle: At first glance, she looks like a normal nine year old - well maybe not - she prefers jeans over dresses, doesn't mind getting dirty, and she wants to change the world. Danielle is a brilliant little nine year old girl who has grown up around animals her whole life. Not only is she on the Principal's Honor Roll every report card, but she has a high school reading level, writes her own novels, and never fails to do her homework. And this is all in addition to her love of animals....

Itching - Fleas or Allergies?
All that itching and scratching -- it must be fleas! If your dog is constantly itching and scratching, a Kansas State University dermatologist says allergies may be to blame instead of fleas. Mary Bagladi-Swanson, assistant professor at K-State's Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, says dogs experience most forms of allergies in the form of skin irritation. "Humans may experience hay fever, sneezing and congestion," Bagladi-Swanson said. "A dog, on the other hand, will experience more skin irritation and do more scratching." Three types of allergies are common in dogs. Flea allergic dermatitis is the most common form of allergy and is caused by fleabites. Atopic dermatitis, or atopy, is associated with pollen, household dust mites and molds and is estimated to occur in 15 percent of dogs. Food allergies are believed to be the least common of the three types of canine allergies. Dogs may have an allergic reaction after eating certain foods or commercial dog food ingredients such as wheat, soy or beef, said Bagladi-Swanson......
