Greenmeadow Community Farm

Spring 2019

Spring - Badger face lamb

There is no doubt about it, Spring is one of our favourite seasons at the Farm. It’s a great time of year to put your wellies on, wrap up warm and bring your class to experience farm life for themselves. As Winter slips away and Spring starts to awaken, there is an abundance of new life waiting to meet you.

*Special Offer*

Throughout March and April we offer an all-inclusive price on school visits of just £5.50 (excluding vat) per person (with 1 adult free for every 10 children). This includes our daily milking demonstration, your own tractor and trailer ride PLUS our egg-citing Candling and Handling workshop!  You will also be allocated an undercover space to leave your bags and eat your lunch.

Candling and Handling

Our Candling and Handling workshop offers your class the unique experience of seeing the chick as it develops inside the egg. Learn all about life in an eggshell and hold our newly hatched chicks. This is a great hands on opportunity which compliments topics such as Are Eggs Alive? Lifecycles, Living Things, Farm, Baby Animals and much more.

Bottle feeding

With a whole host of babies that will be needing their morning and afternoon feeds, why not book bottle feeding as an additional activity for your class? Available throughout April and May this lovely activity will definitely be an experience that your class will never forget!

Do Cows Drink Milk?

Why not come along and see for yourselves in our daily milking demonstration, included in the cost of your admission? During your visit you will be able to meet our Holstein Friesian dairy cows. Your class may be surprised to discover that it’s not just cows that give us milk as our nanny goat takes centre stage for the demonstration throughout February. You might even be one of the lucky ones that gets chosen to come and have a go!

Food and Farming

We offer a wide variety of additional activities to enhance your learning experience. Egg collecting is a great way for the children to see the link between farming and food production. Butter making, a Farm to Fork tour and Pizza making are just some of the activities available throughout the Spring.

See our “Additional Activities” page for a list of activities available.
