A Gentle Touch Holistic Therapies

Bowen Technique

What is the Bowen Technique?

The Technique

The treatment consists of a series of gentle rolling moves over muscles, tendons and other soft tissue. The therapist uses his or her fingers and thumbs on specific areas of the body, applying gentle pressure to effect a movement of the tissue, causing a ripple effect of energy.

Why does the therapist go out of the room?

Breaks are taken between each series of moves to allow the body to absorb the instruction given and start the healing process, offering the body the opportunity to restore structural integrity. The breaks are very important to the process, and the therapist will usually leave the room to allow the client to rest quietly in total relaxation.(Unless treating a child or elderly person where the therapist remains in the room).

Do I have to undress?

It is a totally non invasive technique and can be performed through light clothing.

What responds well to Bowen Therapy?

One of the most common problems presented to the therapist can be back pain and here Bowen excels. Frozen shoulder is another sometimes long term condition that can be resolved much quicker with the Bowen Technique. The list is endless and includes, hay fever, asthma, migraine, sciatica, Crohns decease, and various sports injuries. Sportsmen report fewer injuries when treated regularly and can also notice an increase in performance energy levels.

Here is an example of the illnesses presented to the practitioner -

  • Pelvic Tilt
  • Sacrum/Iliac joint
  • Tight hamstrings
  • Knee problems
  • Ankle swelling
  • I.B.S.
  • Diverticulitis
  • Male/Female reproduction
  • Bladder problems
  • Prostate
  • Menopause
  • Bedwetting
  • Baby colic
  • Carpel Tunnel
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Stiff neck/Whiplash
  • Migraine
  • Wry Neck
  • Tennis/Golfers elbow
  • Respiratory illnesses
  • Sinusitis
  • Digestive problems
  • Fibromyalgia

The therapists treats the whole person and not a specific condition and the results can be truly amazing as the body restores its natural healing powers. For further information please go to -
