Lockwell was founded by Kenneth Locker in 1975 and has grown from an initial 2 branches to the 29 trading today. During the mid-eighties the business expanded into the more specialised industrial sector, where Lockwell remain one of the UK's leading independent wholesalers, supplying an extensive range of electrical products from major manufacturers.

The Lockwell branch network is supported by a purpose-built Technical and Training Centre (TTC) based at Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. The NICEIC and City & Guilds Approved Centre offers technical support services and training solutions covering a wide range of technical subjects, including: City & Guilds 2381 with GOLA exam (essential for Part P), 2382 upgrade, and full package, City & Guilds 2391, City & Guilds 2377 (Parts 1 & 2) Portable Appliance Testing PAT (Code of Practice) and many more. There is also a Satellite Training Room in the Wrexham Branch to cater for staff and customer training at the additional location.
